She may fear that her partner will follow her and kill her if she leaves. He has often told her, “You're mine. If I don't have you, no one will have you.” And she should fear this. A large percentage of DV related murders, murder-suicides, and other severe violence occurs when the victim in leaving, or after she has left. The real issue is not her leaving but his violence! |
