Why She Stays or Goes Back

She may stay because she fears emotional damage to the children.

She believes that it would be harmful to her children to separate them from their father. She holds the long term welfare of her children above her own short term safety. She believes she can endure, but does not believe her children are being impacted by the abuse.  She is willing to sacrifice herself for her children's well being. She may not realize that his abuse affects the children to the degree that it does, and that he is the one who should change.
