She may have been raised in a family where abuse and violence were commonplace. Such beliefs may have been common in her cultural teachings.  For such a woman violence and abuse may seem normal even expected.  So leaving is not on her agenda.  She just wants him to stop abusing her.  And only he can make that happen.
